Community Discussion: Art as a Tool for Movement-Building
Wednesday, September 18th
6-7:30pm
Are you an artist? An organizer? A cultural worker? Join Future resident & queer, anti-racist printmaker Nicole Em for a facilitated discussion about art as a tool for Left movement-building. Nicole will share two brief examples of how her work has been used for movement-building in her home state of Maine, and will then facilitate an open conversation about the limitless examples of art-making grounded in global movement work. We will discuss the joys, challenges, and considerations implicit in using art as a social justice tool, and will hopefully inspire each other to infuse even more of our organizing with the power of art. (Please note: For purposes of this workshop, art is defined as any form of creative expression--not just visual art!)
