March 15: Secular Living: Creating ritual and tradition beyond religion
Story Sharing + Discussion + Book Club
Join Future artist in residence, artist, homesteader and mother Rubina Martini to share ideas and stories about personal/familial/community traditions. Inspired by their own relocation to a rural community, the birth of their child, and the quest for deeper meaning, Rubina will be holding a round table event for others to share their own journeys through a secular landscape. How do we reshape holidays outside consumerism or religion? How do we avoid appropriation or find ways to appreciate the cultures many traditions are borrowed or stolen from? How do nature cycles such as moon phases/solstice/seasons help shape secular traditions?
Guests are encouraged to bring a 3-5 minute story to tell or a question to pose for discussion. Suggested reading for this event is For Small Creatures Such as We by Sasha Sagan.
Suggested $10 donation for space and artist. 6pm
