The branches that are featured are the Chechen tree (contains poisonous sap) and the Chaca tree (grows near the Chechen tree and has nectar that can remedy the poison). The lotus is a variety of lotus found in the yucatan and is apart of a mayan folklore story on how chaca and chechen came to be. The bird featured is the crested caracara. The caracara is the national bird of mexico, however a lot of people think it is the royal eagle because of the flag. The caracara's are native to the gulf of Mexico and were often used in by indigenous people when describing the founding of Tenochtitlan. It wasn't until the conquistadors that the royal eagle was introduced to Mexico and placed on its flag.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe 7 of wands\/branches typically means to hold your ground and fight, no matter what is challenging your position. I picked the caracara bird after my dad told me a story about my uncle, who passed away from cancer a couple of years ago. The caracara's have a migration spot near the orlando wetlands on 520. My uncle in his last months of fighting, really wanted to see a caracara and was deteremined to see one. Despite the exhausting drives and not great conditions (he was still under going experimental medications for cancer), he would go and sit and wait to see one. After a couple of tries, he finally saw a whole flock of them roosting on a electrical tower.
