Diego Felipe Torres (b. 1989) is a Colombian-American multidisciplinary artist working in collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, design, and sound. His work explores the transformation and healing of an individual in the search of escapism or a better view, as depicted in the reimagining of place and the plays of concealment, entrapment, and release; secrecy and revelation; relocation and wanderlust; and ritualistic intimacy. He was born in Tarrytown, NY to Colombian parents and was raised in Bogota, Colombia. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 2012 and was artist-in-residence at the Julio Valdez Printmaking Studio in New York City in 2014, and at the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture in Bogong, Australia in 2016. His work is influenced by symbolism, expressionism, existentialism, travel, the coming-out process, and post-punk music.
